AKEREDOLU RELEASES 29 INMATES AS MEASURES TO CURB THE SPREAD COVID19

The Ondo state Governor Arakunrin Oluwarotimi Akeredolu, SAN, has signed the released of 29 inmates from prison who have served part of their sentences after being sentenced to various terms of imprisonment in the state.

According to Governor Akeredolu, this move became necessary as part of the effort of the Ondo state government to curb the spread of the Corona Virus pandemic, especially at the Correctional Custodial Center in Ondo State.

By the power conferred on the Governor by paragraph (d) of the sub-section (1) of section 212, of the Nigeria constitution (1999 as amended) Governor Oluwarotimi Akeredolu, SAN, ordered the release of the inmates after the successful treatment of the first index case of covid19 in the state.

The Governor who believes that decongesting the Correctional Custodial Center will also help to prevent the spread of the Covid-19, not only amongst inmates, but also the officials said the state government is doing every thing humanly possible to make sure that this pandemic do not spread in Ondo state.
