Ondo State Governor, Arakunrin Oluwarotimi Akeredolu,SAN has urged his colleagues in the legal practice to always speak up on time in defence of the rule of law.
Speaking at the 65th Anniversary of the Nigerian Bar Association, Ibadan Branch, to celebrate its 2019 Law Week, Governor Akeredolu said lawyers are privileged set of humans who have the onerous and arduous tasks of protecting the sanctity of humanity.
Arakunrin Akeredolu who was a President of the Nigerian Bar Association and the Patron of the NBA, Ibadan Branch, said lawyers cannot afford to either be silent in the face of intimidation or get disunited in the task of building a “virile nation of our dreams”.
“We cannot be passive, we must always be united in saying the truth and doing the right thing
“We must equally speak up on time against abuses, so that our country will be a better place for all of us”, he said.
While commending the Ibadan Branch for the choice of topic for the anniversary: Law, Probity and Good Governance: Practical Approach To Making Nigeria Greater, Governor Akeredolu said lawyers must wake to prosecute their convictions with courage.
